Village of Capac Invites Community to Help Shape Its Future at Master Plan Open House

The Village of Capac is asking residents to help confirm the community’s development direction as it updates its Master Plan. The Village Planning Commission has drafted proposed updates and is now seeking public input to ensure the Plan reflects the community’s vision for the future.
A community master plan guides decisions on land use, housing, zoning, and public infrastructure. Capac’s updated Plan will outline a long‑range development strategy for the next 10 to 20 years, preserving the Village’s small‑town character while identifying opportunities for thoughtful growth.
Got a great idea on how the Village should continue to develop? The Planning Commission would like to hear from you. Pizza and light refreshments will be provided for all attendees.
The planning process began in winter 2025 and has included several Planning Commission discussions, demographic research, community surveys, and a joint working session with the Mussey Township Planning Commission.
These efforts have shaped a draft Plan that emphasizes protecting community identity, expanding housing choices, and directing new development to appropriate locations.
With the initial drafting phase complete, the Planning Commission is inviting the public to review and react to the proposed vision, goals, Future Land Use Map, and implementation strategies.
An informal Master Plan Open House will give residents, business owners, and stakeholders the opportunity to explore the Plan through visual displays at interactive stations.
The Open House will be held Wednesday, March 18, from 4–7 PM at the Village Offices, located at 208 North Main Street.
Community feedback is essential before the Plan moves into the formal adoption process.
After incorporating input from the Open House, the Planning Commission will finalize the draft and, if satisfied, recommend the Village Council begin the official adoption process.
Prior to Plan adoption, a formal public hearing will be held before the Planning Commission.Wade Trim, a multidisciplinary consulting firm with five decades of experience supporting Michigan’s small towns and rural communities, is leading the Master Plan update.
Residents with ideas, concerns, or aspirations for Capac’s future are encouraged to attend and share their perspectives. Village officials and Planning Commission representatives will be on hand to listen and answer questions.

The Village of Capac Planning Commission is the public body of the Village that is responsible for the development
of its Master Plan and application of the Village Zoning Ordinance. The Commission meets at the Village Hall on the
first Wednesday of every month, starting 6 PM.
